It has been two decades since the St. James Church Massacre in Capetown, South Africa. Most Christians don’t even know about this incident and thus can’t learn from it. But knowledge of history is crucial in understanding how to live in the present and how to prepare for the future. Peter Hammond, pastor in South Africa, recalls his memories of that fateful day. History teaches us to hope in God, because it is the record of God’s dealings with men. Even in greatest disasters, God’s mercy is present.
